Travel advice

Security and Local Travel

Levels of crime are relatively low in Rwanda. All British nationals are advised to take sensible precautions, for example: do not walk the streets after dark; do not carry large amounts of cash; and do not leave cars unsupervised in town centres.

The threat from terrorism in Rwanda is low although all British nationals must remain vigilant.

The road infrastructure from Kigali to all major towns is good. There can be landslides on some of the major roads during the annual rains in late spring and autumn. Road travel after dark should be avoided as roads are unlit and driving standards are poor.
