We no longer issue standard (5 and 10 year) British passports at this High Commission. You now need to apply for your passport through our Regional Passport Processing Centre in Pretoria.
For those applying from Rwanda and Burundi you have two options:
1. If you have a credit card you can send your application direct to the Regional Passport Processing Centre at the British High Commission in Pretoria.
The Regional Passport Processing Centre website will tell you everything you need to know about applying for a new or replacement British passport from Rwanda and Burundi.
Further detailed information on the application process is available here.
2. If you do not have a credit card you will need to submit your application at the British High Commission in Rwanda or the British Embassy Liaison Office in Bujumbura. The Regional Passport Processing Centre website will tell you everything you need to know about applying for a new or replacement British passport from Rwanda and Burundi.
Why have we changed? Please see this leaflet [PDF, 77.0 Kb] for all the changes related to the way we issue passports overseas.
If you need to travel urgently and your standard passport is not available we may be able to help you with emergency travel documentation:
Emergency Travel Document Application Form (Rest of the World) [PDF, 168.3 Kb]. The Emergency Travel document costs are 86,925 RWF or USD 146 (the equivalent to £ 91.50. We only receive in RWF or USD).
Please call the Consular Officer in Kigali (250) (0) 252 556000 and the British Embassy Liaison Office (257) 22246478 / (257) 78 827602. We are open Monday to Thursday from 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs and on Fridays from 08:00hrs to 12:00hrs.
The use of biometric information, which links a person to their passport, can help us to counter identity fraud
